When I saw the 'hedonism' 'knot' 'polystyrene' at the first time, I began to think about the philosophy,because 'hedonism' means people only enjoy their llife,making their life full of materialism and sex,which is something about mental.After that, I found 2 philosophers who has different ideas about the hedonism，Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche and Epicurus. Nietzsche thinks that pleasure is based the desire of destroy, so I followed Nietzsche` idea to find something, such as the school bullying,family violence.The common thing is that the perpetrator do want the pleasure from the violence.However Epicurus believes that the fate will arrange the best for everybody,so there is no need to do anything too much, he does not drink unless he is thirsty and he does not eat unless he feels hungry.As for the 'knot', if I picked up 2 pieces of fabric and knot them together, I would say it is me who makes the fabrics together or the fate makes it happen.In this way, I think actually as long as the fate makes something or somebody together, it all could be regarded as knot.such as the rain falls down onto the flowers, the fortune favors somebody.so everything happens around us and everyone show up in my world all has a knot with me. 'polystyrene' it feels like something fragile, weak.
This project is a group project, when we work together, we can create more ideas.What is more, we could makes others` ideas more complete and combine them to make something really interesting.

Actually I think our teamwork is really nice,however, there is still something we could do better.In my opinion, we should make a better character of the second person who is a sign of the hedonist who gain the pleasure from violence.From our research we found that this kind of aggressive people usually have some weak aspect about their mental.So we should make something to show their inward world.
For me, as a successful idea, it should be something conceptual, fresh. So I always think about something in a kind of philosophic way which could give me a new perspective.
When we work together for 1 project, we must have something divergent, in this situation, I think the discussing is really important, because we always keep discussing, and we don't have any something unhappy happened. However,sometimes we have to give up some personality or accept others idea for a better corporation.

Today，I did some research of Balenciaga who created a fashion brand called Balenciaga. He was born in a poor family ,which he had to do something to make money, then he choose to be a tailor.In my opinion, due to Balenciagas` background, his style is not like Dior which is really luxurious,feminine,instead,he preferred to make new form for women` body，Such as the loose fitting on the back, the geometrical shape dress, and the one seam cutting,that is walso the reason why I choose.Personally, I really look forward to the fashion womens`wear,for me the silhouette and the structure is always the primary element of the garment,because people only thought about how to create a shape by cutting the fur to cover them and get warm, when people invented the first garment in the ancient times, and also the language of silhouette and structure is the strongest of fashion design. Balenciaga would speak by the design of structure rather than the something decorative.What he did in just brings me to a new world of fashion design.

For searching some interesting shape and structure in the kings`cross area, I decide focus on something which is easily to be ignored by people. Such as the traffic light,derailleur o the bicycle,the sculpture,instead of the shape of architectures. . Because I think there is too many right angle and straight line of the buildings` shape.However,the derailleur really has a organic line and irregular shape.it looks always different no matter which way you chose to see. As for the draping part,Because I did some research of Balenciaga. my idea is to create a new form for women body instead of letting the paper just rely on the body, so I try to make some space between the pattern paper and body.I build a huge space on the front of the model, then I use another pattern paper I cut to connect them each other all.

In my opinion,as a student for fashion design, I have to absorb the fresh things everyday.Even though I have camera to collect lots of the interesting things which can inspire us ,the observational drawing is still really important.Because the drawing is not only a good way to record the inspiration but also a best way to transform my idea from everything I find to the design process.And also I need to make a selection from all what I have recorded, in that situation, mark making could help keep all the interesting idea on my sketch book or emphasize something I really like.
Personally, In one hand.I am not that kind of person who do everything so fast.So I definitely need make a timed exercise to speed up, in the other one hand, timed exercise could make me more excited and focused,which I can be more brave to try more things and do everything with high efficiency.

Personally, I think what all I exercised in this week really broadened my horizon. Before the drawing exercise in this week,I only draw the fashion illustration in pencil.However, Tutors just kept requiring us to change to drawing media during the draw.Due to this,I found that actually the lines`integrating of the different media could definitely make incredible vision on the paper. Furthermore, I have never thought I could put some fabric or something with texture in my drawing to match what I want to express.It really help a lot on my sketchbook. Firstly I will use all of this for my observation drawing and fashion illustration to make a stronger vision.Secondly I am gonna keep exploring in this way to develop my hand drawing.

Actually，I am not really satisfied with my work in jacket project.Even though I separated the lining and the external fabric, cut out the stitches to created a garment,tried some new way to hang on the model and added a big sleeve on the left side, it just looks sort of a entire jacket hanging on the body. So,i decided to redo my jacket project.

Today，I choose some 2 traditional Japanese costume and 1 Dutch belt as the silhouette source.The shape of the belt is really like H,so I just kept drawing lots of H on my sketchbook, then I came up whit an idea I just wanted to draw a human face by drawing lots of H.As for the functional stuff, I choose the mask.For me, mask is just like sanitary towel or something which can filtrate the dirty things. So. I drew the dirty air with the gray, black and white acrylic and when the dirty air goes through the sanitary towel, it just turned fresh and clean which is represented by the green and yellow acrylic.

Today, I mainly developed the human face and the mask I drew last day.I developed my idea step by step.Firstly I collaged a human face, then I collaged a upper part of the human ,at the third work, I collaged an entire human by the color sample I made.For the mask, I used the color sample to collaged a sign of prohibition, a mouth and a black ball which means something dirty, and I collaged these 3 things together, it means the mask is the prohibition which can stop the dirty things getting into our body.

For the 6 final sample，I got some ideas from the unuseless inventions. I really want to create something which looks like 3d but actually it is just 2d. My silhouette source is still the Japanese and Dutch costume.And I want to break down the shapes into pieces and fill lots color sample I make.

Today, my classmate told me my draping development is so amazing, however, i should do some research from other field for some detail and the color.Then I went to the library for some research of the color. I found there are lots photographers would use the monochrome to show the structure. I would also use the black and white to emphasize my design

Every time before I draw the development from the basic draping ,I would always observe the silhouette and the detail and think about how to use it for my design.For the shapes I usually change the angle and the proportion to create a stronger silhouette. For the details , I prefer to repeat that and change the position on the body .Because of this, sometimes I would like to use photo shop to experiment my draping on the body to find more interesting development ideas.

Actually I love the sample which represents the word 'structure ' best. Because I used a really abstract way to show something about the volume and the perspective.I think I should develop further for this sample. I would use black, white, red and also I want to use more material, such as the metal or something I have never experimented .

Today,we decided to go outside to do some research. we went to the the British museum,the National portrait Gallery, the National Gallery. Unfortunately,we did not find that much useful things as we expected before.After that, we went back to library and discussed what we are going to do with all the research resource.Finally, from our research, we think we could use the performance to show how we think about the hedonist, and all the characters have an invisible knot with each other, because there is something happens between them. And also,there are 2 main characters, the first one A is a sign of the hedonist who could only make a live by the luxurious lifestyle, so this guy would have an oxygen which is full of the luxurious items.The second guy B is a sign of another hedonism who gain the superiority complex from the violence.The performance is that lie on the sofa and enjoy his luxury, and B see it , he does not feel good with what he see, so he decide to take some violent tough stuff on A to make himself feel better.This incident of violence is just the knot between this 2 characters. Actually I just want to make meaning of 'knot' more conceptual.And by the way we do bind the metal wires together to make a oxygen tank.
I drop the ink on the paper first, then use the bamboo stick to push ink to draw a leave.

When I was doing my observational drawing from my jacket, I found the left side of my jacket is sort of incomplete and messy, so I made something which is similar to the dart on the left side to make reduce redundant fabric, and also I made a sleeve from the additional fabric to make the entire silhouette stronger and more organic.During the exhibition, I saw lots of amazing drawing.From the observation,I found that all of the lines they drew are really smooth and confident, the line never goes back.After that,I just asked my friend how to do that, she suggest me to facsimile some drawing from Egon Schiele. From now on, I am going to facsimile Schieles`drawing everyday.
For this jacket project,I did some research from Margiela, he is one of my best love designer who is focused on the deconstructionism of fashion.I was so impressive when I first saw his design on the fashion,especially a blue dress which is worn in horizontal way by the model,it just inspired me that we don`t need to wear the garments in a normal way.

For the additional fabric, I prefer some fabric which is something modern, because my jacket is kind of out of fashion, I would like to chose the pvc or plastic to make it look fashion.As for the color, I do like the original color of my jacket, the khaki.so I would chose the khaki which is not in the same tone.After I bought the fabric, I found its really hard, for this, its easy to make some interesting silhouette to strengthen my deconstruction.After finishing the observational drawing, I decided to add 1 more sleeve on the right side.

For the practitioner project, I did lots of research of the costume from Japan, Muslim and Dutch. And also, I found a really inspiring things which is called unuesless invention.It looks really useful but actually it is just useless.

From the observational drawing, I thought the silhouette on the left of my paper work is more better than the front side to do the design development. So my idea is to develop the left silhouette for the basic structure and shape, then I would use the front structure for the design of the detail.

I choose my favorite development and combine the details of the front to develop further.
In order to emphasis the structure of the protuberance on my design , I would like to use the fabric with the stria,which can clearly show what the structure is.

For the three samples which are structure, shape, repetition.For the word of repetitions, it reminds me of the accumulation of the stones, so I cut out lots of the little organic shapes of the paper to represent the stones and get them together.For the shape my first is something about the polygon . so I cut out some rectangles and squares in different colors.For the last word structure. it is something about the three dimension, and then it reminded me of the perspective . so I use 3 pieces to make a collage to show the sense of volume.

Today, I suddenly get unsatisfied with my final design of the public art project. I realized that the protuberance part I designed doesn't fit the entire one, it looks too much purposive .it does not look natural at all. Generally speaking, it just looks sort of weird, so I decided to redo the design development.
